4 Days Kahuzi Hike & Gorilla Trek

The 4 Days Kahuzi Biega Hiking and lowland gorilla trekking in Congo Starts from Kigali which is the capital city of Rwanda and then connects to Bukavu in Democratic Republic of Congo for gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National park and then return to Kigali for departures.

In the world, Kahuzi Biega national park is the only park that hosts the lowland gorillas in their natural habitat. In fact, Democratic Republic of Congo stands as the only destination that harbors both mountain gorillas in Virunga national park and then the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega national park.

This gives a primate lover a chance to trek both the gorilla species in one safari.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International airport

Upon Arrival at at Kigali international Airport, you will be welcomed by the experienced Safari guide of Primate Safari experiences and start the adventure to Kigali for night life and city tour of Kigali.

In the evening, you can opt for a city tour where you will visit several destinations like markets, shops, art and craft shops, museums and others. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight Serena Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Bukavu in DR.Congo

You will have your early morning breakfast and checkout of the lodge so as to embark on your journey to DR.Congo. You will have an en route lunch as you view different beautiful sceneries and creatures like plantations, vegetation, mountains and others.

Later, you will cross over for Bukavu via Cyangugu border as you fancy your eyes with the beautiful views of Lake Kivu and others attractions along the way. Arrive in the late evening and have a stop at the park head office to pick up your lowland gorilla trekking permits and then check in at your lodge/hotel of booking for dinner and overnight at Orchid Safari Lodge.

Day 3: Lowland Gorilla trekking

Wake up for your early morning breakfast and move to the park headquarters for a per-trek briefing experience and be allocated the gorilla family to trek. After, you will be led by the park ranger through the forest who will help you look for the habituated lowland gorillas that are used to human presence. After allocating them, you will be allowed to spend a maximum period of one hour with them as you enjoy their daily lifestyles like plays, feeding and others. Later, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Return to Kigali for departure

You will wake up for your early morning breakfast and checkout of the lodge as you prepare for your transfer back to Kigali via the same Cyangugu border. After crossing to Rwanda, you will have your lunch and then be driven back to Kigali for your flight back home or next destination.
