Rwenzori mountains national park
This is a Ugandan national park and UNESCO World Heritage site protecting Uganda’s highest summit – Margherita (5,109m) on Mount Stanley, one of the massifs of Rwenzori mountains. Located in the south-western part of Uganda along the border with Democratic Republic of Congo, the park is known for different features apart from the glaciated rocks.
Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Bwindi impenetrable national park is a jangle national park situated along the Democratic Republic of Congo border next to Virunga national park and on the edge of the Albertine rift. Composed of 321 square kilometers of both montane and lowland forest, Bwindi is known as the home to almost half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas in four sectors – Ruhijja, Rushaga, Nkuringo and Buhoma sectors.
These species can be encounter during a gorilla trekking safari that involves a purchase of a gorilla permit at USD 800 per permit per person from Uganda Wildlife Authority or through a reputable tour operator.

Have your early morning breakfast at the lodge in Kasese and proceed to the headquarters of Rwenzori mountains national park – Nyakalengijja. You will be briefed about the hike and more information concerning different attractions in the park like vegetation, bird species, water sources like rivers and others will be narrated to you. After the briefing, you start the hike through the breathtaking vegetation of bamboo forests, lush forests as you cross different rivers like River Mubuku.
Have a delicious breakfast at the lodge and drive to the park headquarters for briefing by the ranger guides about the rules and regulations to be followed during the gorilla trekking experience. Every group will be allocated to the gorilla family to trek and once traced, they will be allowed to spend 1 hour as they watch them and also take some pictures of these gentle apes. After the experience, the trekkers will be awarded a certificate for the recognition. You will drive back to the lodge for lunch and later drive off to Kasese for your dinner and overnight stay
Have your breakfast at the lodge and proceed to the park headquarters for briefing from the ranger guides about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking experience. As done in the first trekking, every group will be allocated to the gorilla family to trek and once traced, you will be allowed to spend a full hour watching and enjoying the daily lifestyles of the apes. After, drive back to the lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.
